Order Modifier Mapping

Ensure that modifiers selected by customers on your WooCommerce store appear correctly on synced Square orders.

Prerequisites

Before setting up order modifier mapping, you need:

• Order sync enabled
• Modifier syncing enabled
• Products imported from Square with modifiers

Setup

1. Enable Modifier Syncing

1. Go to SWS Pro > Settings > Products
2. Find the Modifiers section
3. Toggle on Modifier Syncing
4. Click Save Changes

2. Import Products with Modifiers

1. Go to SquareSync for Woo > Products
2. Select the products you want to import
3. Make sure Modifiers is checked in the import options
4. Click Import All

If you've already imported products without modifiers, re-import them with the Modifiers option enabled.

3. Enable Order Sync

1. Go to SWS Pro > Settings > Orders
2. Toggle on Enable Order Sync
3. Set your preferred Trigger Status (Processing or Completed)
4. Click Save Changes

4. Verify the Setup

1. Place a test order on your WooCommerce store with modifier options selected
2. Wait for the order to sync (or manually sync via the Order Actions dropdown)
3. Open the order in your Square Dashboard
4. Confirm the modifiers appear on the line items with correct names and pricing

Troubleshooting

Modifiers not appearing on Square orders

• Verify that order sync is enabled and working for non-modifier orders first
• Check that the product was imported with modifiers — re-import if needed
• Confirm modifier options have linked Square catalog object IDs in the product meta

Pricing mismatches

• Review tax-inclusive vs. tax-exclusive settings in WooCommerce
• Check that modifier prices in Square match the imported prices in WooCommerce
• Verify currency settings are consistent between platforms

Unlinked modifiers

• If a modifier option doesn't have a catalog object ID, it won't map to Square
• Re-import the affected product with the Modifiers option enabled
• Check that the modifier still exists in your Square catalog — deleted modifiers can't be linked
