Before configuring the Square integration in the WordPress dashboard, you need to obtain an access token from Square. This token allows the SquareSync plugin to securely interact with your Square account.
Step 1: Access the Square Developer Portal #
Sign in to the Developer Dashboard (Use your existing Square account logins).
Step 2: Create a New Application #
- Click on the + New Application button.
- Enter a name for your application (e.g., “WooCommerce Sync”) and click Create Application. This name will help identify the plugin’s connection in your Square account.
Step 3: Obtain Your Access Token #
- Once your application is created, select it from the list of your applications.
- Navigate to the Credentials tab and ensure that you select the Production environment.
- Here, you will find your Personal Access Token. This token is sensitive and should be kept secure.
- Click the Copy button next to the token to copy it to your clipboard. You’ll need this token to configure the Square integration in the next step.
- Use the default API version unless otherwise specified here.
Step 4: Configure Square Integration in WooCommerce #
- Navigate to SWS Pro > Settings in your WordPress dashboard.
- Paste the Square access token you obtained in the previous step into the designated field.
Now that you have configured your access token, your SquareSync integration is ready to securely sync your WooCommerce store with your Square account. Continue with setting up your webhooks for real-time syncing, documentation here.
